The restoration and protection of Minnesota's water resources and sensitive lands is key to BWSR's mission and the programs it administers. These programs help to improve water quality, provide wildlife and pollinator habitat, reduce soil erosion, restore soil health, reduce flooding impacts, and mitigate for lost wetland functions.
With a focus on private lands, BWSR works with local governments, other agencies and conservation organizations to provide programs, technical assistance and funding to protect, restore, and enhance the values and benefits of our most critical natural resources. We leverage partnerships and engage interested farmers and landowners primarily through conservation easements, working lands initiatives, and other grant programs.
