Grant Description

The State Cost-Share program, formally established in Minnesota Statutes §103C.501 as the Erosion Control and Water Management Program, provides funds to Soil and Water Conservation Districts to share the cost with the landowner of systems or practices for erosion control, sedimentation control, or water quality improvements that are designed to protect and improve soil and water resources.  Cost Share funds are dispersed annually to Soil and Water Conservation Districts as part of the executed SWCD Program and Operations grant agreement or addendum.

Beginning in FY22, this grant requires a work plan, which also fulfills the requirement of the SWCD's annual plan.

Reporting Overview

Cost Share funds are subject to the Erosion Control and Water Management Policy, in addition to the terms of the grant agreement and policies in BWSR’s Grants Administration Manual. When using the enhanced technical assistance option, the Actual Results section should include the number and types of practices implemented and funding sources used for financial assistance. Please visit the Erosion Control and Water Management Program page for additional program background and guidance.
