The BWSR Habitat Friendly Utilities Program is a new initiative that builds collaboration with utility companies and a wide range of conservation partners to enhance landscape health and biodiversity in solar projects and across utility corridors. BWSR staff are currently working with and advisory team to determine next steps for the program.
Key goals of the program include increasing collaboration with a wide range of partners, creating a program structure for long-term success; building on the BWSR Habitat Friendly Solar Program; providing technical assistance for the planning and management of utility corridors to establish native vegetation and accomplish multiple benefits such as pollinator habitat, carbon sequestration and water management; supporting pilot projects to build collaboration; and testing innovative approaches for managing utility projects for co-benefits.
