Prescribed Burning

(Time: will vary) This course is designed to introduce the student to the fundamental basics of prescribed burning. At the end of the course the student should have a working knowledge of fire law, fire terminology, fire prescriptions, firebreaks, smoke management and a basic understanding of how to conduct a prescribed burn. This course is not intended to take the place of workshops, training sessions and actual experience in the field conducting prescribed burns.

Webinar 1: Introduction to Wetlands

This first webinar, presented in 5 segments, in NAWM and NRCS’s jointly developed nine-part wetland training webinar series provides an introduction to wetlands. The webinar introduces the primary components of a wetland, moving on to what makes wetlands distinctive from other types of waters and land. Next, the webinar covers the variability of wetlands across the landscape, including across seasons and time and the benefits of wetlands. The training concludes with a discussion of the history of and changes in agriculture policy in relation to wetland losses and gains.
