Pheasants Forever Prescribed Burn Workshop

Join PF/QF at Carleton College for a day of prescribed fire. We'll meet at the Cowling Arboretum 710 Three Oaks Drive in Northfield. We hope to expose conservation professionals (NRCS, SWCD, and more) to prescribed fire and empower them to have conversations with landowners. Our agenda will include a morning classroom session covering why nature needs fire, how fire accomplishes ecological goals, how to have a safe fire, and how fear of fire creates inaction. In the afternoon, participants will get a chance to have a hands-on session at the Arboretum shop including looking at hand tools, torches, and pump units. We'll wrap up with a burn visualization exercise to get familiar with how burns look on the ground.
