Pine River and Leech Watershed Protection
Overview
This project uses Reinvest in Minnesota (RIM) easements on targeted private forest, wetlands, and shoreline within the Leech Lake and Pine River Major Watersheds to push towards a 75% protection rate.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources identified a strong correlation between lake water quality and habitat that sustains sensitive cold-water fish populations and maintaining 75% undeveloped land cover in the watershed.
Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program
This program is designed to minimize intensive residential and commercial development within an area around Camp Ripley Training Center (CRTC). CRTC is a 53,000-acre regional training center hosting numerous ranges and state-of-the-art facilities to support the training requirements of military and civilian agencies. The Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program - formerly the Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program - purchases development rights to reduce land use conflicts with military operations.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Introduction
Working together to build an organizational culture that values inclusivity and diversity is key to our work at the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR). BWSR’s DEI plan aligns with the State of Minnesota’s vision for inclusion and equity for state agencies (One Minnesota) and the Office of Inclusion’s Long-Range Plan (per Executive Order 21-13). The plan will provide a framework for being intentional and thoughtful as we further integrate DEI into BWSR's work.
Careers
BWSR is the state soil and water conservation agency, and it administers programs that prevent sediment and nutrients from entering our lakes, rivers, and streams; enhance fish and wildlife habitat; and protect wetlands. The 20-member board consists of representatives of local and state government agencies and citizens.
The Board of Water and Soil Resources is an equal opportunity employer.
