Training Description:
A classroom and field based training focusing on how to collect, submit, and interpret samples eligible for Conservation Evaluation and Monitoring Activity (CEMA) 216 soil health testing. Anna Cates will describe the meaning of the soil tests funded by CEMA 216, including soil carbon pools, aggregate stability, and soil biological metrics. Stephanie McLain will cover the submission process required for funding, including sample locations and paperwork. In the field, participants will have the opportunity to try different methods of soil health sampling, get a refresher on in-field soil health assessment, and observe cover crops grown in different corn row spacings at Central Lake College in Staples.
