Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program

This program is designed to minimize intensive residential and commercial development within an area around Camp Ripley Training Center (CRTC). CRTC is a 53,000-acre regional training center hosting numerous ranges and state-of-the-art facilities to support the training requirements of military and civilian agencies. The Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program - formerly the Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program - purchases development rights to reduce land use conflicts with military operations. 

Native Seed Mix Design and Evaluation

Most large scale native habitat plantings are created with seed mixes. Plant diversity is a requirement for pollinators, other wildlife, and the foundation of ecological resilience, but it can be a complicated and consequential challenge to select the best mix for any given site. Building high quality native seed mixes that serve multiple species, replicate natural plant associations, establish readily, conform to certain conservation practice standards, and fit within budget constraints requires training and experience. It takes a lot of familiarity with native flora, experience with specialized design tools like seed calculators, and awareness of the commercial availability of various species in your region. This workshop will have some classroom style modules and plenty of time for participants to work through seed mix evaluation exercises in small groups using the seeding calculator and other complementary tools.

RIM Eligibility

Both the landowner and the site must meet certain requirements, depending on the program, to be eligible for a RIM easement. A determination of eligibility should be made early in discussions with the landowner. Before proceeding with an application, refer to the RIM Eligibility page, as well as program specific guidance, to determine if the landowner and the land meet eligibility requirements. 

Master Joint Powers Agreements, Cost Reimbursements, and Work Orders

Master Joint Powers Agreements (MJPAs)

BWSR contracts with local government units such as soil and water conservation districts to implement Reinvest in Minnesota (RIM) easement programs. To do this, BWSR and each SWCD complete a Master Joint Powers Agreement. An MJPA is an overarching agreement that allows an SWCD to enter into work order contracts for their services and request reimbursement for costs associated with RIM easements. The current MJPAs will be in place until January 2029.
