Producers’ work with Martin SWCD targets Fairmont city water supply
The Martin SWCD is poised to work with producers on Phase 2 of Clean Water Fund-backed nitrate-reduction work affecting Fairmont's drinking water supply. Phase 1 also tapped EPA dollars via the MPCA to cover 100% of costs.

In La Crescent, HELP grant sparks community, habitat connections
Replacing turf grass with prairie plants — made possible by a Habitat Enhancement Landscape Pilot grant BWSR awarded to the Root River SWCD — will save labor and fuel costs while creating pollinator habitat and beautifying bits of La Crescent city parks and steep slopes.

New wetland function assessment tool in the works for two-state area
Wetland regulators in Minnesota and Wisconsin will soon have an updated tool available to more efficiently assess wetland functions related to water quality, hydrology and ecology. This tool will replace existing wetland assessment methods in both states and is expected to be available later this year.

Pine SWCD targets Snake River water quality via forestry work
With Watershed-Based Implementation Funding, Pine and Kanabec SWCDs hired a shared-services forester to work with landowners in the Snake River watershed on forestry protection plans with water quality benefits.
