Training Description:
Join us for a hands on, field based training designed to deepen your understanding of native prairie grazing dynamics and plant identification. Participants will visit multiple grazed prairie sites, practicing identification of grasses, forbs, and legumes, and distinguishing grazed from ungrazed stems. Throughout the day, you’ll document plant recovery, observe livestock grazing patterns, and assess soils and grazing distribution. The training includes opportunities to compare utilization patterns across sites, evaluate conservation grazing strategies, and discuss indicators of prairie health under grazing. We’ll also cover grazing utilization tools, seed mix design for grazing goals, and strategies for native grassland restoration and wildlife conservation.
