Climate Trends and Action Report

Reports recently released by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) asses conservation practices farmers can implement to improve soil health and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

MN CREP Enrollment

Once again, landowners in 54 southern and western Minnesota counties can submit applications to enroll in the Minnesota Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (MN CREP), a voluntary program that pays landowners to retire marginal cropland to create permanent conservation easements to protect environmentally-sensitive land.

Lawns to Legumes

BWSR recently received state funding to develop a new Lawns to Legumes program focused on planting residential lawns with native vegetation and pollinator friendly forbs and legumes to protect a diversity of pollinators. Funding will be targeted in priority areas benefitting the Rusty Patched bumble bee and other at-risk species.
