Apply for BWSR Grants

BWSR grants provide funding to local units of government to deliver soil and water conservation services to their communities. Grant funds support and increase local capacity to implement programs and, provide cost-share with landowners who install conservation practices on their land to benefit state water and soil resources.

Cooperative Weed Management Areas (CWMAs)

New funding is available through a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Cooperative Weed Management Areas (CWMAs). These partnerships combine expertise and resources to work across landscapes and increase the effectiveness of invasive species management efforts. $200,000 is available for the next two fiscal years to develop new CWMAs and to support the efforts of existing groups. Local Soil and Water Conservation Districts are the eligible grant recipient and typically work with a wide range of partners on their applications.

Multipurpose Drainage Management (MDM Competitive Grants Program

BWSR is preparing to launch the 2016 Clean Water Fund Multipurpose Drainage Management (MDM) Competitive Grants program. This grant program is a new, unique approach to supporting conservation drainage and multipurpose water management on Chapter 103E drainage systems.

The FY 2016 MDM Grant focuses on supporting implementation activities related to the “considerations” outlined in Chapter 103E.015. A key feature of the new grant opportunity is that eligibility is dependent, among other criteria, on a partnership between drainage authorities and SWCDs.
